(2) cut off the male and female plugs for the cps
(3) pull the pins (wire) And remove the wire but save the pins
(4)Re crimp/ solder in a new short wire and direct connect the reference voltage wire from one to the other plug
(5) re crimp/solder about 5 feet of wire On each connector on the 0-5v reference wire
(6) run those two wires into the cab and put them on a hidden rocker switch
(7) your done, nobody is stealing the xj unless you don’t hide the rocker switch.
i may make one for reference later but essentially it will keep you from cutting into your stock wiring - this plug that you just made goes between your own stock crank position sensor plugs it’s a bridge basically And could easily be removed if you change your mind.
cps is near the firewall so it shouldn’t be very hard to run it in through and existing grommet.

On top of my last post, if you really want to get truly secure, buy any kind of lock that only you have the key to - lots of different lockS out there just go shopping for switches basically.
thats what I would do but I see lots of great ideas here.

Sorry I wasn't clear box. I was wondering about his method of isolating the signal wire. I think it's good though.
wtnx I wish I had access like that to a junk yard now. You can't walk through any of the ones around here because of insurance requirements. They'll go back and get a part for you but it costs an arm and a leg.

if you want something simple do the same thing without the extra plugs.
or do the exact same thing with the power wire of the fuel pump relay, asd relay whatever it doesn’t matter none of that stuff is going to be too much for your average rocker/toggle switch.
15 amps is your average toggle max
10amps for rockers
no need for relays or anything else so complicated honestly, that’s just something you use when your trying to control high amperage items from inside the cab or overkill.
when you say you don’t wanna run any of that in the cab your thinking high amperage like starter wires not something as low as 10-15 amps , think about it the fuse box inside carries way more than that, the radio etc
what I’m saying is, your really and honestly making this way more complicated than it is .
take it easy man it ain’t that big of a deal
good luck!

@wtnxj1991 I did the exct same idea with my O2 sensor when I was able to get the connectors from a donor vehicle. I run an LPG system which taps into the O2 sensor signal to read for itself, then sends out a false signal back to the PCM to keep it happy. The original system fitter just cut into the O2 sensor wires and when I changed the sensor I had to cut into my loom to avoid voiding the new sensors warranty. I have since made the plug and play adapter which would have avoided any cutting into the original loom if done from day 1. It certainly is a nice method of allowing easy removal of additional wiring. At the same time would also make it easy to bypass if spotted. You'd have to hide the connection between the adapter and CPS wiring to keep it out of sight.

The method in the video is the same principal as my post above, with the dark blue or dark blue/yellow wire beign the relay trigger circuit. The only difference between the car in the video and the XJ is if you have the same PDC as me, you won't find a wire or connector inside the cab to cut the wires for your switch, you'll only find them directly under the PDC.

lets be honest , this is all a bit overboard because if someone wants your Jeep Cherokee bad enough to sift through a wiring harness to look for a plug and play adapter I highly doubt any security feature is going to be enough short of a mean dog with rabies in the cab lol.
its all a moot point honestly because the truth is if we’re going to worry that much about this then we may as well assume if you remove the engine they will bring a spare engine to replace it and drive off with the vehicle anyway....it’s just that level of silly lol
but I do understand the technical mind wanting to toy with things !

Yes I do be askin lots of questions. Sometimes I ask because I want to understand a system just generally and others I'm asking to accomplish a specific task. Glad you guys are here to help.

Old fart with a wrench
Just put a sign in the window saying "Beware! The theft protection in this vehicle is lethal!"

I thought about this for a long time. I decided I was more pissed that my windows were broken despite the fact that I leave the car unlocked to try and protect them. Ultimately I went with theft/damage insurance, and a simple battery cutoff switch.
