vibration
Guys,
Thanks for reading my post!
I just purchased a 2001 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 4x4 automatic, it has a vibration that is felt in the seat at about 40 and gets a lot worse all the way to 80. If I am driving 60 and put it in 4wd the vibration almost goes away. I replaced the rear wheel bearings and seals, put on brand new tires and had them rebalanced 6 different times by different shops. Also, new brakes front and rear, had the rotors turned as well.
I then removed the front driveshaft and drove it for a couple of days and the vibration was now muffled, but better. I had the front drive shaft rebuilt and balanced, put it back and the problem is still there. The rear have no play in them, but I have yet to drop the drive shaft. Does anyone else have a suggestion? Transfer case? Tranny? Front hubs?

Dang it looks like you started throwing money at the problem quite fast lol. Check for play in your front hub assemblies by pushing and pulling the wheel holding the top and bottom. You can do that on the ground, then lift it up and spin it, listening for grinding or play.
I would lean more towards a steering component that is going bad. check for play in everything attached to the front axle. Check to make sure bushings are okay also. The tie rod is often at fault.

What kind of shape are your motor and transmission mounts in?

U gonna talk to the rebuilder about this??? I would, just to see how they handle it if no other reason.
Also wanted to mention that I always believe a vibe you can feel in the seat is driveline related.
And a vibe you feel at the steering wheel is suspension/steering related.

For all you know, they charged you that much to use their grease gun and call it a day
