Default Vibration help!!!

So I am having some strange vibrations that come and go. When I drive my XJ it isn't easy to isolate the problem. It happens around 55km/hr to 75km/hr, although it isnt always there. Sometimes it is evident uphill sometimes it isn't. It doesnt seem to be there when accelerating. I have noticed a rattling sound coming from either the front end or some place on the frame (around the tranny mount) at 70km/hr. I figured it was the ball joints since the front wheels were wobbly. I replaced the Ball joints myself and at first the vibration wasn't there. I started to drive it faster and it started again.

I crawled under the vehicle and it seems like the U-Joints are solid but I could move my transmission a little bit side to side (horizontally). I have not tried to push up on the transmission to see if the mount is busted. I can't imagine the mounts creating a vibration but I guess it could explain why it comes and goes.

Please help, this vibration is starting to rattle my head.

How long after your lift did this start happening? I had the same problem. RC bushing are crap. Check your LCA and track bar.

I put my lift in about 2 years ago. I'll check them.

It's common that if a wheel is out of balance it will shake at a certain speed more. Balancing is something you want to do anyway now and then, maybe you might want to rule that one out.

In my experience a trany mount noise will be related to what the engine is doing. Load, no load, decel/ RPM's. Noise from metal touching there will radio really well to the cab/body. Mine has been broken free for years n' my engine "lives" about 3/4 of an inch forward of where it belongs, but it's still resting on rubber and there isn't extra noise. I think I broke it, and the left engine mount at the same time Btw. Haven't looked at the right yet.

A bad tranny mount can definitely cause all sorts of vibrations. Ask me how I know haha. So that is something you should check while you are down there.

I crawled under and everything is solid. Control arms and all but the tranny moves 1/4" in all directions. I had my wheels balanced recently, hopefully they didn't mess up. They were in a hurry to finish my truck. I might get them to redo it.

Alright. Cool thanks, I think ill try the alignment, replace the tranny mount because it feels too loose and see where that leaves me. Everything feels tight and my steering feels great.

I noticed today though that my stabalizer bar bushings are worn. Wobble related?

Possibly? Not to positive but it would make sense since its part of the front end

I fixed the vibration. I had this weird suspicion and I found out that the idiots at kal tire didn't balance my tires right.

I now however have a new vibration. This one is very specific. When I hit 80km/hr my whole truck starts to shudder and shake and once I hit 90km/hr it goes away every time.

Ya know..I've seen them mount a tire on the balancer with dust & dirt & mud on there..It's life and death! (a little sometimes). I gotta' assume they do know they are suppose to be "balancing" it.

I saw in an FSM some have a "zero" toe-in speck. I would expect that could cause a vibration or shimmy. (I'll send a note to Jeep! )

Again you might still have a balancing issue. I really don't know, would hope they got it. I might try rotating and see if that helps

I'll try rotating the tires, wouldn't hurt. I won't allow kal tire to do it though. Last time I got them to rotate them, they broke my brand new ignition

Keep in mind I only go back to kal tire because my tires are warranteed and this is all free.
