I had a similar problem with my 1996. When the motor torqued the alternator would just barely touch the car frame and the exhaust pipe would touch the transmission cross brace. It turned out to be worn motor mounts which are relatively cheap. I hope this helps.

Default acceleration noise

Turns out my noise is coming from a stretched tc chain. the popping noise on heavy strain is the chain skipping, I found the chain online for about 70 bucks but in shop they want 1000 to change it. This will defiantly be a DIY project.
