Default Vinyl carpet?

Has anyone bought the aftermarket vinyl carpet for XJs? If so.. How durable are they? Which brand is the best? Do they compare to the ones that come factory on some models? Can't remember which model comes with It.. Or maybe It was just an option. Idk.. I was thinking about taking out my interior and using that rust stop primer on the bad spots and using the Walmart version of rhino liner up front until I have time to get new metal and fix the bad spots and then rhino line the back half.. After new flooring.. From what I've seen the back is pretty bad but the front looked ok.. I can't tell until I pull the carpet.. Anyway.. After all that I wanted to find the vinyl stuff I'm guessing that would be better because It wouldn't soak up water.

I see vinyl being worse than carpet, if water happens to get under the vinyl theres no way for the water to get out. I was going to look for vinyl until someone brought up this fact to me. I have a 99 and just took out the carpet, it doesnt get overly hot (uncomfortable to touch but doesnt burn you. After I patch my floor pan Im going to bed line it. It really isnt much louder, I can hear the hum of the engine and transmission but I personally like to so I can keep track of it.

Also good luck finding a premade vinyl flooring, I spent 2 or 3 weeks looking and never found one for a cherokee. You can always just get thin carpet, or tear off the insulation, in my carpet the insulation was like a sponge but the carpet was decent with drying quickly. You can tell exactly where the insulation was.

Yea the trapped water was the only concern I had.. But I know at least one Xj model came with It.. So I was thinking It must not be to bad

I just found this.. http://m.quadratec.com/products/prod...gid=14049+800X

I feel $275 isn't a bad price as long as it's a decent product.. I'm looking for something like a thick flooring.. Almost like an expensive rubber floor mat but for entire flooring

Hmmm. Didnt notice this, probably because its in a wrangler tub. Id be a bit concerned over that. However I feel that it would be a bad decision in the long run. I like the lack of floor, I still have my floor mats in.

If youre willing to take the vinyl floor out once a year or so to make sure the floor pans are still good I could see it being ok.
