Do you have to have a relay with these or can you just wire em straight to the battery? Any pics of them mounted on you XJ?

No relay is included. if you buy them wire your own harness with or without a relay. There nice cheap lights that if you rip one off on a tree branch or something its not that big of a deal. Heres mine. i have four upgraded overhead. i'll post a more detailed description tomorrow.

Safer to use a relay on any lights. Even small LED lights. Running power to a light without a relay is inviting troubles and electrical fires.

So how do those do on the roof since they're technically supposed to be used as foglights? I dont remember them having a spotlight version.

They have a Driving Light version, and a fog light version. The fog light uses a lower wattage bulb and is more dispersed.. The driving light is 55w halogen.

The wiring they give you is quite thin, there is no relay, and the switch seems cheap. I just bought them a few days ago, Im gonna use the wiring it came with for now until I can get some money to run 12awg wire and a 30a relay with a high amp switch. If you have the money I would upgrade the wiring. Its not too much of a priority for me right now My jeep is a lawn ornament until My dad transfers the title, and I dont know when that will be.. If youre putting it on the bumper be warned IT IS A BEOTCH TO DO! I got the passengers side done today, with much swearing and now my hand hurts.. The drivers side is gonna be even more fun.

If you're running a relay you can use a small switch, because oyu only need to energize the coil in the relay with the switch usally not more then a few amps to change the state of a coil.

Also my jeep came with these on there and there not bad at all.

where can I get a relay at and how big of one do I need? What gauge wire would be best for these lights? And you said a small switch wont hurt anything if you have a relay right?

get 12 gauge wire and a 30 amp relay. to turn on a relay it usually takes less then one amp so any switch is fine. then wire your switch into the fuse box by your brake pedal. put ur hot wire in an "accessory outlet" and then you will have a direct line from your battery to the relay, the switch just turns the relay on and off. if you need i'll pm you a write up and a drawing haha

i like that idea. right now i have an extra 6 feet of wire that runs runs to my switch and 20amps going through it. I would much rather have only 1 amp going through it.
