Yes. a dana 40 up front and a dana 45 in the rear will be plenty strong for 35 foot tires.

Do they make dana 40's and Dand 45 LMAO.

For 35's

Dand 30 for the front can hold them and you will need a Dana 44 or Ford 8.8 or larger in the rear.

You will have to have 4.88 gearing or better.

Your profile says you have a Dana 30 front and a 8.25 rear, so your axles will be fine for 35's, so just regear.

Also, they don't make a Dana 40 or Dana 45.

I wouldn't run 35's on a 8 1/4.

why wouldnt you? not being a smartass- just curious. i was under the impression that the shafts in a 8.25 are just a tad larger than a d44's.

4.88 axle gearing is perfect for 35s and a 4.0. Plenty of pep on the road and plenty of crawlability when in lo range off road. WTH is a D40 and D45!?!?

98 XJ w/ 30 and 8.25 holding up fine with my heavy as **** Toyos. No problems so far. Just regear and throw a locker in one if the axles for less than the price of a new JY axle.

Good luck!

yeah i got some buddies like that, but the few that have the 8.25 and 35s make it work. i run the 8.25 on 32s and you should see how hard i wheel, just ask kyle lol.

the the OP
the Dana 44 is a stronger axle for sure, but eh 8.25 is plenty strong enough to accommodate 35s for what your planning on doing.

oh and no such thing that i know of a Dana 40 and Dana 45
