OK so your telling me that the computer is gonna add fuel until it sees 210. No problem got it now I was wrong. We've established that even with the cooler tstat the engine will still reach 210 it'll just take longer. Any other draw back I should know of?

Obd2 I have a scanner I just haven't checked to see what the sending unit is reading yet. I'll do that tomorrow soon as I get to work.

You can verify temperature with an infrared temperature gun pointed at the thermostat housing. If you have access to an old OBDI Chrysler scanner at a shop, you can also cross-ref the temperature sensor in the thermostat housing (which is different from the gauge sender at the rear of the head). The computer will use the sensor for monitoring engine temperature (tries to get catalytic converter hot enough to work), which is separate from the gauge function. If you bought crap sensors too, they probably need replaced too.

I have a snap on "brick" scanner for obd1 kinda be useless on an ob2 set up unless I'm missing something. My ob2 scanner will give sending unit Temps also. I'll take temp readings from around the gauge sensor also.

Monitoring my scanner on the way to work this morning maybe 50 degrees outside and raining. As the gauge shows up to 100 the computer reading is right there with it after that it gets a little funky
Gauge says. Computer says
100. 100
150. 120
210. 160
230. 180
Red line. 204

204 was as hot as I could get it. I know this doesn't mean much because the sensor for the computer is at the front of the head and the gauge sending unit is at the rear I'll get the temp gun on the back of the head later this evening and post that also

If u r showing incorrect readings,I would change out sensor first, then check your gauge.
There r a lot of threads on gauge issues, but since u did not have a problem before the sensor change,I would put money on that being your problem.

I have to agree it sounds like the gauge sensor is dying.

Sensor readings in column B look about right for a 180 tstat. Gauge sender is crap, replace with Standard brand or MOPAR brand

Any functioning T-Stat will be fully open before it overheats. If it's lower than 195*, it will either just take longer, or not even reach the desired, most efficient temp, around 200*. (warmer=better fuel atomazation) The "upper end" is mostly controlled by air and coolant flow.

I gather closed loop can be considered as when the puter starts using 02 sensor readings to finish the fuel trim. (instead of programmed default's)
Because of the 02 heater, ("s), this might happen fairly quickly, maybe even before 160*.

Anyway there's my .02

The fuel mix is to promote late combustion, which is specifically to heat up the cat. The conversion reaction only occurs at very high temperatures.
