Default Water leak carpet soaked any ideas?

Hi hope you guys and gals can help. after a heavy rain my carpet is wet on the drivers and passenger side floor in the front seat area. i pulled back the carpet from the fire wall and can see the water slowly comming down between the firewall and the insulation. i ran a garden hose directly into the cowel and no water goes inside so i dont think it is getting in that way. does anyone know of a common problem where water is comming in like this and what i can do to stop it.
Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure you still have your floor boards. Mine are rotted out and it's practically a lake on my floor anytime it rains. This weekend I'm probably tearing out the interior and welding in some new metal and then spraying down some undercoat to keep out the water.

Yea, I already fixed all my floorboards during the summer thats why i really want to fix this problem asap so my floors dont start rotting away again and i can keep my carpet dry.
