water pump
so im trying to replace my water pump, but i have come to a small bump in the road.
i need to take the pipe (on the left) out of the old one and put it in the new one. problem: it is quite old and frozen, i have soaked it in PB blaster and WD-40 and it wont budge, i was told use a torch to heat it then hit with pb and let soak, but i dont have any sort of torch.
i need ideas, does any one know how i might be able to take this pipe off?

yea i couldn't remove that pipe either...what I did was go to the parts store and they sold a 3/8"MPT with a 5/8" hose connector adapter and replaced it. It was slightly shorter, but i used a little longer hose. holding up so far. i'll try to get a pic

i used a long galv nipple and cut the threads off, the reason its so long is if the hose blow you gotta take a lot of stuff of to get to the clamp when its short

There should be locktite on the threads which is why you can't remove it. You can heat it with a heat gun on the pump where it threads in itself. BUT, it's recommended to change them with the pump because they rot out. The ones for the newer XJ's are like 12 bucks. It's worth it to replace it now and be done with it.

IDk which parts stores you have in your area but an R&S Straus, Pep Boys or Advanced Auto will not have it either. We have Napa and Carquest here that normally carry those. You'll need to look for a smaller business parts store for these. If nobody carries it, check out www.rockauto.com and look up your year Jeep. It sucks because you'll have to wait for it to get to your house but it's a sitting duck right now anyway. Goodluck man.

The pipe on my '98 XJ was rotting away. I used a dealer purchased replacement for the factory look. It was $22.00. I replaced the heater hoses with factory molded hoses as well. They were $58.00. The water pump was $70.00. The prices are outrageous but it still looks factory. Now if I can get the radiator issue resolved the Jeep will be back on the road.
