Don't know about writups but it is about a 90 min job unless you have the radiator pulled. Then it can take much less time. Can easily be done with hand tools. Don't forget to clean all mating surfaces well before re-assembly.

Yep pretty easy job. The t-stat is way simple and the water pump is just time consuming. Like the other said if you have any questions just post up and we will gladly help out.

Thanks!
My jeep sticks at like 155 degrees... i thought it was normal but my friend told me it should be at 190/210 so I wanted to swap the t-stat and see if that was stuck open or anything..
it does get up to 190 if i idle in a drive through for a few minuets but than comes back down after..

Belto did a water pump replacement write up....
It's not that bad at all, I don't even pull the radiator, It's been awhile, but I think the p/s pump is the only thing I move out of the way...

Yeah, toughest part of the job is knowing to loosen up the power steering pump to get the serpantine belt off.
Ditto on making DARN sure all mating surfaces are VERY clean of gasket material and torque everything to OEM specs. This will keep you from springing leaks all over again.
Another good trick I learned from a wise old mechanic is to rub your water neck mating surface on sand paper on a flat surface until you have shiny meatal all the way around. Small aluminum pieces like our wondeful XJ 4.0 waternecks like to warp. this will ensure a good mating surface with your new gasket when you put it back togther.

It's not too bad - I was redoing everything, radiator, serp belt, hoses so all in all it took me about 2-3 hours. With some decent know-how you shouldnt have a problem.
The serp belt is very confusing, so I do suggest reading up on that before you mess with it. You have to play with the power steering and stuff before it will come off.

I still had the little serpantine belt routing sticker under the hood in my XJ but, the dude at the counter in Autozone gave me a computer print out of my belt routing when he sold me my new serpantine belt. So, when you get your belt if the parts guy doesn't offer, ask about it.
