Waterpump inlet tube - plug?
95 XJ, leaking heater core has been bypassed for probably 15-20 years. South Florida car, rarely a need for heat anyways.
Pump inlet tube is rusted. Can I just put a 3/8" brass PLUG on it and plug the thermostat housing where the other end goes, or is that water flow needed between the two?

yes, if the heater core has been bypassed for so long it doesn't matter. doubtful the flow through those small hoses matter but just in case...instead of a brass plug, put in a brass nipple and run a foot of hose between the nipple on the pump to the outlet on thermostat. that way flow through the pump is normal
