Did you take the drum off and inspect the brakes?

Interesting question because mine does the same thing. Does it do it all the time or only when the brakes are wet or dirty?

I just bought my XJ a month ago, and it does the same thing, more so when its wet out. sounds IMHO like rear brakes. either out of round drums, some junk and grime in them, or just worn shoes. No big deal, I plan on pulling the drums and just doing new drums, shoes and hardware while im in there. its like $50 or so with regular oem style stuff.

I still haven't checked the brakes, but mine does it sometimes when its wet or dry and push the brakes but then it goes away after I stop or accelerate

Mine is also doing the same thing. I pulled the drums and everything looked great visually. My next step is to have the drums cut.

Cutting means to have them put on a machine that recuts the inside of the drum, same concept as having rotors turned. It allows you to get a little more life out of the drums.
