Default Weird Stalling Issue That Fixes When ECU is Cleared

2000 Cherokee Sport

I installed a 62mm throttle body from DWD the other day. Drove to work and home with no issues. Ran like a champ. The next day, it started stalling when I stopped at a light. Had to hot brake it back home.

Before I did the swap, I had an evap code that I fixed (new gas cap) and the light went out on its own for about a week. A day or two before the swap, the light came back on for a small leak. I smoke tested and found CCV breather hose has a crack. It ran fine, so I'm just waiting on a new one to come in the mail. I did the TB swap, all was fine (I didn't reset the ECU when I did it). Until the stalling. Got another code for purge flow with the small leak code. I checked the purge solenoid (which is about 4 months old) and it wasn't ticking. I got another one and it worked, but was still stalling. I then pulled the negative cable from the battery for about a minute and all of my stalling problems went away. I drove it all day yesterday, about 50 miles, without a hitch. This morning, on my way home from work, it started stalling again at lights. I pulled off into a parking lot and pulled the negative cable. Again, all is right with the world.

Anyone know what is up with this?

I should have mentioned that the first time it stalled, I was stopped in a parking lot and cut the when it the right. It was only stalling that way for a few minutes, then went on to stall whenever my foot was off the gas.

The IAC and TPS are about a month old and worked fine on my old TB (there was nothing wrong with it). Too bad it's on it's way back to DWD as a core. I did test the TPS with a multimeter and everything seems to be good with that. Also, I almost forgot, about 2 weeks ago, I installed the H4 harness from K Suspensions. I also tested the battery and alternator, no issues. The battery is also just a few months old.

I"m thinking that you either have a vacuum leak that shows up with temperature (in which case the ECU 'clearing isn't doing anything but allowing things to cool a bit), OR

You have confused the ECU with... possibly a vacuum leak or other airflow problem due to your TB installation.

I can let it sit and cool down for a couple of hours and it will still stall. When I reset the ECU, it was when the truck was at temperature and just running. The longest it got to sit, both times was about a minute or two.

Cheap Chinese IACS Strike Back!

As far as I can tell, the Chinese IAC I installed a month or so ago got stuck open. I ordered another cheapie from Amazon and installed it. Everything runs fine now. In a week or two, I'm going to spring for the Mopar IAC so this doesn't happen again. I also sprayed down the ECU connectors, there was a little bit of grunge in them.

So, so far, I've sovled the problem. Unless, something else pops up.

There ya go. That's why we always say to stick with OEM on these parts. IAC, TPS, and all sensors.
