Yes but that ability is not gonna be found in the people that are asking what to do , Not saying your wrong but it shouldn't even be suggested to the one's who ask how to fix the problem. It would end up as a danger to them and anyone around the vehicle, like kids on bikes, your wife or mine in the car that gets hit when the unit-body breaks in half from a **** poor job, plus it wont pass inspection if it is seen.

Check in your wheel wells and i bet at least one has a accordian looking spot right over your rear wheel. If it does take the money and run buy you a used one.

no the whole rig looks good except three spots or i would not be trying to fix it.. like i said two spots the rails got crunched.. this was were the front of the bolt on hitch was.. and on the back pass side the bolt pulled threw the frame rail.. the rest of the jeep measured out fine.. some minor pulling will straiten out the rear like it should be.. but the rails still need to be fixed some how.. that is why i was asking

the insurance company has been messing around with me. and i didn't have full coverage so i cant get my insurance to pay. but either way i want to keep my jeep.

the frame stiffeners just look like plasma cut pieces of steel, how is that any different that what i am planing on doing?.. channel can support more weight that flat steel.. i dont see why 3 inches on both side past what i cut out would not be enough if i am using heaver steel than what was there to start with.. but maybe tying both the repairs together with pieces that look like the body stiffeners may be a good idea..

Really i just what this jeep to be useable to pull my 14 foot boat.. go deer hunting and ice fishing until my other jeep is done.. as i am in the process of building a 90 wrangler.. then it will be striped of useable parts and crushed

with enough plate steel, you can reinforce just about anything

have your insurance co go after his, they need to payout

and we still want to see some pics...

If it was me, and the unibody damage was not excessive, I would feel perfectly safe repairing it and driving/wheeling to my hearts content. But, I would NEVER ever tow with the vehicle again. When you tow a trailer and something goes wrong, you are not the one in danger, it is the poor people behind and beside you who die because that one weld broke and ripped of a piece of an already weakened frame.
It's not the legal repercussions that make me cautious about these things, it is the thought of me having to meet some little girl who doesn't have parents anymore because of my actions. In the end, it is your decision, and you seem to have your mind made up.
Just please don't endanger others with what you decide to do. Cut your losses and spend the time getting the Wrangler on the road.

Sorry I miss understood how it was damaged,Being a millwright/welder rule of thumb for any lap is atleast 6 inches,But honestly if you want to go with the frame stiffeners that would be a great idea, since you do want to tow but the choice is yours good luck with the repairs. If you know anyone with a good metal shop with an IRONMAN maybe you can have them bend you up so flat stock to slip over the top of the bad area.

I hope the one I am looking at buying is not bent. I don't like the idea of chopping out part of another vehicle, though there is one at the junkyard. I'm waiting for pics of the frame.

The posts have dates on them. It pays to pay attention to them before you respond to a thread that you find by searching. Also, there's the little matter of thread hijacking.

People on these forums love to tell people to search, but when they do search, they get bashed. You need to chill on the lecture. It's an easy mistake to make. You see a thread with your identical problem and you get so excited that maybe you've found the answer, that you read & just start typing.

At least he searched - but I guess no good deed goes unbashed.

Searching to find information is a good thing. That doesn't automatically mean replying to every thread you find that looks interesting.
