Wet floor in back
I have a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport. Over the past several months, I've had a problem with the carpet in the back getting soaking wet every time we drive in the rain.
I discovered that the water is NOT leaking in from the roof or window. Rather, the water is coming directly through the floor from the road. I confirmed this by placing a plastic sheet on the floor, and a cardboard box on top of it. The cardboard box remained dry while the rug under the plastic sheet got soaked. The pattern of wetness of the rug seems to follow some contour of the metal underneath.
I need to fix this. The wet isn't so much the problem as is the stink that comes along with it. What exactly is going on? What needs to be done to fix it?

Sounds like you may have a rusted floor that allows the water splashing off of the tires to soak through the carpet. Crawl under the Jeep and inspect the floor or pull the carpet up and inspect it.

just rip out the carpet carefully if you want to reuse the same one, grind or cut the floor panel, buy a sheet of 22ga sheet-metal and have fun, almost finished mine, it's also a good time to look for extra rust and possibly extra storage...
so far the cost is around 60$
