Inspecting the belt on my new to me 2000 xj and noticed this.. it’s directly beside my harmonic balancer on the driver side.. not sure if it’s built on the to front of the engine or what but it’s hard.. it won’t move.. the belt has eaten into it over time..
That's part of the Timing Cover for a WJ; I'm really interested in why and/or how. The XJ accessories won't bolt to a WJ block, but why would you put a WJ cover on a XJ engine... Where is the alternator and AC compressor on your XJ? To fix it, you can grind it off or replace it with one for a late model XJ.

interesting.. my alternator and ac compressor are on the passenger side of the engine bay..
Someone must have put a WJ timing cover on; the AC compressor bracket won't bolt up to a WJ block...
that's crazy.. someone stated up above that the wj timing cover wouldn't fit the xj.. is my ac compressor is the correct place? im so lost.. how can I tell what motor is really in this thing?
