Hi,
Bought a project vehicle and unfortunately the antenna base, the antenna, and the antenna cable are missing so I just have a hole in my body panel. I'd like to get it replaced. For those in the know or who have a 2000 cherokee, does it use a powered antenna system, i.e. something that lifts the antenna up and down, or a straight antenna.

Secondly, if it is the powered system, could I use one of the unpowered antenna bases from an older xj?

Krutchfield sells a replacement antenna for 96 and older....maybe by now they sell one for newer than 96. With that said, i have used the 96 in my 01. Its not a direct fit through the hole but with a couple of washers and silicone sealer you can make it work. Its been almost 10 years so I don't remember the exact details. You have to remove some screws at the quarterpanel by the antenna because you have to get to both sides of the panel. The antenna cable goes all the way to the radio. Need to pull off the inside panel by pass fuse panel and snake it up to the radio. No its not a powered antenna, at least mine wasn't
