I always thought the D35C meant it was C-clip. I have the same on my 89. I never really looked into it since I haven't done much wheeling yet. It's just my DD to get around...for now. Over the summer it'll definitely see some action.

The "c" in Dana 35c does not stand for C-clip, it stands for custom. They are custom because they were shipped incomplete from the Dana factory to Chyler and Chrysler completed the build.

So if mine is 89, does that mean I don't have c-clips? Cuz that would make me pretty happy. C-clips like to break and let the axle shaft just mosey on out of the housing.

Look at your wheel flanges there will be a small step up where your wheel bearing sits. If its smooth its c clip if not its bolted on the the housing via the backing plate with pressed bearing on the axle shaft and not into the housings

have a local dealer ship look up the VIN#, they will tell you everything you need to know. the D35C will be fine if you are not wheeling to hard, just DONT put any money into it, as soon as you feel you are ready to say buy a locker, look for something that is worth building such as an 8.25 or better (27 spline is plenty up to 33" tires).
