was just asking this question a few weeks ago to on a couple other forums..

the leading vote getter was an interstate battery.

the duralast gold is hard to beat. 5 year warranty 3 year full replacement and 2 prorated. have had good luchk with those in my daily drivers..

a few including my son have had great luck with the regular duralast.

.

here is the cherokee one. 800CCA thats more then the comparable interstate..

This was too easy and made too much sense.

I keep my vehicles 8-10 years. I've seen OEM batteries last 5-6 years on average. Never put more than 1 replacement in any vehicle I've kept to the 10 year mark. Buy a quality battery but don't obsess over it.

I've had bad luck with sears' lower line, which is why I didn't take the free replacement. My jeep came with an interstate when I first bought it, and couldn't keep up with any of my accessories.

I'm not obsessing over it by any means. Some prefer the cheaper bats, I won't run them again. People either hate or love their Optima, I was just looking for something comparable, which I think the Odyssey will do, we shall see.

Zero issues, and sat for about a month while I was out of the country, and fired right back up when I got home (hooked up to the jeep). Made by Johnson Control Industries, who make lots of other high-end batteries. EDIT: Did not see that you already bought the Odyssey. Just get a Battery Tender, and mount up one of these kits.
If this one fails for whatever reason prematurely I'll prob just break down and buy the dura last, of anything to have as a spare whole I warranty the Odyssey.

I thought the oem size was a 34? I've never had an xj with anything smaller..

A float charger keeps the battery from losing voltage during storage. This will not extend the life of the battery as that is controlled by the chemical reactions inside the battery, however when it is time to put the vehicle back on the road, the battery should be at the same voltage as when the car was stored. So you should be able to unplug the float charger and disconnect from battery, hop in, start the car, and be on your merry way, unless of course the battery deteriorated to point of needing replaced. Investinwaffles mentions Battery Tender, they make float chargers for a lot of applications.

One of our local independent stores carries Exide 'blems'.
If an Exide sits on the shelf for more than 3 months it goes back to Exide and they mark it 'blem'.

I paid $65 for this blue top more than a year ago.

Out of curiosity, why did you put the battery on it's side?

It fits standing up but the hold down works better this way and I will never worry about the posts/cables hitting the hood.

That is a perfectly valid reason, I hadn't considered that. Maybe that orientation would remove some of the slack in the wires going to my putco relays. They (both) kind of have a loop sitting on top of my battery. The harness only came with 3 short zip ties.

Nice! Does it fit inside the stock tray? I like the cable routing where the overflow hose was.

Yeah, same exact size as the Diehard Platinum, perfect fit.

The overflow hose was always in the way so I routed it out of the way and routed all my wires nicely. I'm ocd when it comes to wiring and routing, I see some jeeps on here with relays/fuses/wires/random crap all over and cringe haha.

Oh yea, wires need to be gas/oil resistant and in looms. I will pick at anyone with random wires running unprotected. Fire hazard. Mine are run on firewall along with an auxiliary power block.
