What battery?
What do you guys reccomend for a battery? I have a warn m8000 winch that I will be using with it and some auxiliary lighting and a small air compressor. I don't want to spend $200 on an optima. Consumer reports shows duralast is one of the top three I believe up there with interstate and die hard.

There's a guy who sells rebuilt or refurbished optimas. I think I seen them for like $80-$90. Thought it was a good deal but don't know how good they are. I want to say it was on here somehwere....

Die Hard, Die Hard, Die Hard. They WILL last as long as they are advertised and longer, even under hard use (look up "IDAHO WEATHER").

Really? Die hard. I always here they are ok but Interstate is the way to go. I believe the Walmart batteries are good ones. The previous owner of my metro put one in. Back in March 07. I have hid fogs running to it...and 1700 watts in speakers and sub. Sub was in there when he bought it. I added more speakers. But its working 100%. No problems. I can even run the system for hours before it dies(engine off)....did it while having a bon fire. Lol. I can't remember who makes the Walmart batteries....want to say interstate...but could be wrong.

"normal use".... * laughs*... right... Tell any other idaho hunter that and they'd slap you in the face
used in a '75 K5 Blazer by a country girl who had a full rack of KCs on the front in an area of Idaho where the lows in winter are -30 and the highs are over 100 in the summer.
My mom has no consideration for a battery's well-being...

Been running a group size 27 Odyssey for 5 years, zero problems at all. I run winch, 1200 watt amp, 3000 watt inverter and my jeep is power everything including heated seats. I can winch out of a hole with the engine off and the batter won't die of overheat. Don't know how long I can winch with battery only, but 5-10 minutes is the longest I've done so far and it'll still crank and start after I fix the water in everything issue at that time! Lol!! Optima is junk now that its outsource built...imho. I've also had luck with anything built by JCI, diehard, interstate, les schwab there's a few more that I can't think of.

Have you ever seen a winch run on a vehicle with a poor battery? Cause I've seen it cause vehicles to actually die because it soaks every bit of juice out of it.

Die Hard Gold and Die Hard Platinum are NOT poor batteries! Where have you gotten the bad experiences with them? My parents and I always got them from Sears for a fair price. They have an eight year warranty and they always lasted that long, regardless if my dad cranked up his stereo for long sessions without the truck running or not...

I have lots of toys and they all need batteries. I've tried all the brands.
Regardless of what you go with, keep it 100% charged, as in with a battery charger at home. Batteries just last longer when charged up.
In my boat, I have Walmart marine batteries - 3 yrs.
In Motorhome I have Napa and an Optima Yellow. I must say I drain that Optima and recharge it a lot. The Napa went 6 years and I just had to replace it because I didn't keep it charged...
I also have a Walmart marine group 31 battery with a 115 amp-hour rating. I have a 2000 watt inverter on it that I use on car trips for TV and XBOX. Also use it to run a 1.5gal air compressor. Again, I keep that battery fully charged up after I drain it and that batt has been a workhorse too. I think I paid $85 for it.
Again, whatever you go with, just keep the charge up and they'll last a long time.
My Jeep start battery was giving me trouble this winter, because the I was only using the Jeep every few weeks and the battery really never charged to 100% --- more like 80%. Then I started using my battery charger and kept the battery 100% and life was much better!
