I'm thinking you 're right. It would be cool to know which "option" though
Could this be for fog lights?

Try probing it with a voltmeter and see if it is 12 volts switched. If so, does the headlamp switch it or? Might be handy for something.

Yeah, Dave , thanks, I'll try this tomorrow or when ever I get a chance.
"Handy for something" - that's what I am after, actually , but I thought I'd ask first before messing with it, maybe it's something obvious if someone has this connector going to something.
I've found Fog lights switch connector (three wire) and the extra illumination lamp socket hiding behind the "blank" empty space to the left of rear defoger switch. So I guessed that there must be some "portion" of factory prewiring going for Fog(s). So, while I was searching around I've found nothing else anywhere under the hood, except for this one. But this can be something else...who knows what.
Also the PO of my jeep sure did messed with wires. I had to puzzle around a bit already, while fixing interior lights, rear defoger, door switch. There were some "cuts off" hanging here and there. Found "multitone" alarm horn, kind of disabled, some "going nowhere DIY installed mini-switch", hidden under the panel ... uuuuhhh, etc.... lots of "fun" there
