Default what connector is this???



on this transfer case there are two plug connectors...the small one in the back is for the 4x4...but what is the big one here in the front...what is that for and i was wonderin cause im switchin out transfer cases and i dont have the big connector in the front so i was wonderin if that was important or i can switch them out without worrin about that connector bein a problem???

Are you talking about the black plug at about the 10 o'clock position on the back of the tailshaft?

It is the speed sensor for you speedometer.

its a 231 transfer case off a 96 cherokee and its the one on the tailshaft...if its a sensor for a speedometer...would that be a porblem or would i be fine without it hooked up???

hmmm not sure i only know of the vaccum switch on mine. I would go look at mine but its rainin outside.

Yes, You need the vehicle speed sensor hooked up.
