I was wondering if you guys could tell me what the degree settings of the thermostats that come with stock XJ's. Would it be 195*?

.....and Chrysler/Jeep, at least at some point in time, offered a "severe duty" 180F stat thru the dealerships.

The 195 stat is what I recommend for the vast majority of stock 4.0 applications.

And I only use Mopar thermostats for the best reliability and least coolant temp fluctuation.

True story. I went through 3 Napa Superstats that performed poorly before replacing them with the factory #83501426.

I live in a climate that sees freezing temps in the winter and 100* in the summer. I get quick warm-ups in the winter and they sta cool in the summer.

That's disappointing; I've had great results w/ Superstats in other engines.

Tell me. I had to replace all of them!! Napa warranteed them but the labor was on me. The biggest problem was them not getting the engine up to temp quickly in the winter.

Just curious: when did this happen? I'm wondering if it's something specific to this engine, or if the quality of the Superstats has declined (I haven't had to buy one in a while).

In the last year or two. My line of thinking was the same as yours until this happened.

Wow lots of feedback. Thanks everyone! I ended up going and buying a stock Mopar thermostat.

I got my OEM 195 a month or so ago and the 180 was still an option.
