Its growing on me but it wasnt my first choice. I would much rather have a CJ7... I just didnt have the $5k+ for a CJ... so I got what I could while still keeping it in the Jeep family..
If I could have found an older Chevy truck that wasnt in poor condition I would have probably bought that, but I needed something with a bit more room. Still looking for a truck though, living in the country you always need one to haul stuff around with.. And my next 4x4 will be a Crewcab with a supershort flatbed.

The fact that my first vehicle was a 93 cherokee and i beat that to hell and still managed to trade it for my 450. And the fact that i just recently got a 97 for $1200 and i just got back from having fun in the mountains. I love the desert mountains.

guess ill be honest too. i was trying to find a truck with 4WD as my first vehicle with solid axles front and rear and a V8 for around $3-4k. ended up finding only 2WD trucks or if they had 4WD, it was a ford with the TTB which i hated. dodges all were to expensvie so i ended up going for jeeps and i found the cherokee i have now.
but i love everything about it besides the fact that it takes all my money, leaks through the weather stripping like a *****, and has a worn synchro on 2nd gear that makes it a pain to shift on cold mornings and the sound of gears grinding is like nails on a chalkboard.

I love the fact that I can work on it. Everything is where I can reach it, and parts are readily available.
My wife loves driving it because of it's great maneuverability, visibility and the 4WD. She just interviewed for a job that is out on a mud road, and her future employer were muy impressed that she could make it out there unassisted, year around.

It runs so great that i have never had to do engine or tranny ever. These statements are pretty rare when your talking about a vehicle with 139G' miles on it....but oh no my friend, it is not just any vehicle, its jeep. Kind of random, but i also like the visibilty when lane switching, parking and of course...WHEELING!!!!

I love my xj because it gives me something to wrench on that I can wrench on. I can hot rod around town, haul eveything I need to and keep it dry and still drive through a mud hole with water coming over the hood and not skip a beat. The turning radius is unreal and the front end just walks right over rocks and gullys It's cool!!! It's like the original hummer with great gas mileage at a fraction of the price.
Totally rocks!!!!
