What do you think?
I bought my xj for parts for my blazer project. I liked it so I fixed it and so on and so forth. Now I caught the jeep bug and lifted it but the problem is I have a 2.8 chevy motor and it is sad. I got 3 choices.
1. change my jeep to 4.0 which requires, motor, trans, transfer, wiring harness and new tank and high pressure fuel pump.
2. I found a 3.4liter chevy motor out of a 94 camero. It's a direct swap and 160 horsepower. But it will never have the torque a 4.0's.
3. I found a 91xj with a 4.0 and the transfer out for $700. The body is not near as good as mine needs floorpan and quarter work. What do I do with my 86 I kinda like her?
So if anyone has any experience with any of my choices, too help me with my decision please inlighten me.

it is my understanding that it is very hard to swap a 4.0 into a 2.8 engine compartment due to the firewall not being far enough back to fit the 4.0. If im right (which i think i am) it would be extremely hard to swap in a 4.0 due to limited space. I would vote for option 3 and keep the 86 for a DD and make the 91 a trail rig.

I agree with you guy's, I just hate to take on another project when I'm not even close to finishing this one. If I start another xj at least I could chop it and put in a cage.
