X2 on skids from the junk yard. I paid 5 bucks each on my skids from there and all I had to do was clean them and a fresh coat of paint.
For wheelin I don't have lockers yet so I can't endorse them but in order to keep your rig lookin a lil decent i would suggest rock rails on the sides. Rock rash can make a rig look bad Quick, unless you like the rugged look lol. But it does suck when you can't open your doors.

That depends on your budget and what you plan on doing with your XJ. Aussie lockers and other ratcheting type lockers usually run just under $300, stuff like ARB, OX, Detroit and Eaton start to get expensive at $5-700.
The lunchbox lockers (Aussie, Powertrax no-slip, lock-right)do not require the ring gear to be removed, so installation is much easier. They just replace the spider gears.

It just so happens that my Aussie locker showed up yesterday for the Dana 30 front axle. Upon reading the instructions, it appears that you are correct there. The ring gear does need to be removed for the front. I can give you a lowdown on how the installation went late next week.

The main reason the ring gear has to come out is to get the cross shaft out. It hits the ring gears when you try to remove it.

hwo should i cut the fenders tho? should i use a sawsall with a metal saw bit? i heard that i should tape the outline of where im gonna cut 2 or 3 times with some tape and cut through the middle of the tape so that it doesnt chip the paint and look bad..

You can go the tj route if you like the way it looks. Most people get two sets of REAR tj flares and modify them to fit the cherokee. They look real good too, almost factory-like. JP Magazine did a write-up on this in last month's issue i believe. It should be on their website.
To cut, you could use a sawzall or cut off wheel, maybe even a dremel with a cut-off wheel. I would use a cut off wheel.
