Honestly I think this is what I did wrong. How do I tell for sure...my wires arent labeled.

On my 2000 the constant 12+ is pink/Yellow and my switched 12+ is red/white. Off of the cd player every manufacturer is different but on mine constant 12+ is red and switched 12+ is yellow. Or you can test them with a voltmeter.

Well I pulled the player out of my dash and it is terribly hot...guessing this indicates a ground issue

yeah radios still consume a suprising amount if they are directly connected to a battery as in our caravan, the car style head unit still drains the battery over a week and its only a diddy thing on a big leisure battery.. any possibilty you could put it on the ignition?

my big battery drain's ( ive had two )
1st one was the mercuary switch that lights the under bonnet light up would light the bulb when i was on a incline ( even a relatively small one )

2nd one was a faulty light switch

Took it to a buddy of mine who runs Tuners Car Audio In north w. GA. He pulled it out did his magic and now it turns off with the ignition! Bout damn time.
