Default What gauge?

So I intend on running a new line from my ALT to BATT; So, instead of using the two stock locations for the two 60A fuses, I will just run a wire from ALT to BATT with the two fuses in parallel. What gauge wire should I use?

I don't understand exactly what you are planning. The current wiring runs from ALT to the PDC, and from the PDC to the battery. Are you planning on adding to that, replacing it?
What problem are you trying to address?

I had an issue w/ blown fuses... the fuses are in parallel w/ each other; according to the wiring diagram, they are on a line that goes from the ALT to the BATT. So, rather than replace the whole fuse box (since the two fuses locations are pretty charred), I am going to just run new wire from the ALT to the BATT w/ 2 fuses in parallel of each other. Just curious to find out what gauge wire would be ideal to use. The current set up may be either 8awg or 6awg, I haven't been able to eyeball it just yet. Either way, if it's 8, I'll go ahead and use 6... and so on. Just trying to see if anyone knows before I tackle it.

I've asked around locally, from auto shops to audio centers; they all recommend 2 or maybe 0awg... that seems a little extreme, so I thought I would ask the Jeep pro's!

If you don't have the time to wait for shipping or whatever and you plan on running a stock alternator 4 gauge will do you just fine.

You'll still have to add a feeder to the PDC, that's how the rest of the Jeep gets it's power.

Thanks for the replies all! Yeah, I would order and wait, but I am already on a roll w/ getting the Jeep up to snuff and plan on having the fuse issue behind me before the end of the week... I have new fuses, holders and a terminal... just need the wire.

I just bought the Jeep a week ago and have found a few quirks w/ it. Just working my way through the bugs... missing parts, interior lights not working, front pass. window doesn't roll up/down, radio didn't work (fixed that, just need to find out why soundbar speakers aren't working). Other than that, '95... 155K... runs good... a/c works, but it's only a 2wd/auto.

Also, it doesn't have things like side moldings... how universal are they? Would I be able to use '99 Sport moldings on a '95?

when i up graded mine i just mesured length and bought premade from napa there not monster cables but there deff way bigger than stock no waiting involved .

I get a kick out of you RENIX types. Always fighting wires, grounds, hoky TPS', etc. And to boot you have to work out of dead sea scroll FSM's. Here's a pic of a RENIX FSM....the section on how to adjust the TPS.

lol... that's pretty funny. I am new to the Jeep world and don't quite know entirely too much about them just yet; I'm trying to do as much research as I can to learn. One thing that I think I may know is that mine is not a RENIX. I can't say that I know what all the differences are but don't the RENIX have the 3 bolt TB? I checked mine today just to confirm and I saw four bolts around the TB. I did buy it used and know some people have a habit of misbadging their vehicles just because they think it looks cool. But, it did have a 4.0 HO badge on it. All of the badging pretty much looked like it had been on there since '95... up until I removed them all.

TB bolt count is a quick and easy way to tell.

Instead of running 2 parallel 60A fuses, can you run a single 120-125A fuse? (I believe stock is 125) The parallel fuse holders are fine, until one starts to corrode a bit causing an uneven current split between them.

The engine fuse block has 2 60A fuses running in parallel, so i presume from the factory... that is how it was done. I am under the impression that having these fuses in parallel; 60A is enough to justify the amperage flowing through but having 2 in parallel allows more wattage to pass through without killing a single 60A fuse. I do, however, agree that I would think 1 120ishA fuse would have been justifyable but apparently Jeep didn't think so.
