Default What kind of insulation can I use to quiet this thing down on the road?

Like the title says, i’m looking for good sound insulation to make this thing sound quieter on the road. I don’t know how these normally sound, but it seriously sounds like I have both windows down and the tailgate open when i’m driving, and it drives me up the wall.

I got this thing as a daily driver, since it’s only 2wd, and I plan on using it as a trip car, and on the interstate, it’s too loud as you can just hear everything that’s happening.

Any recommendations?

I have to wonder what the condition of your window, hatch, and door seals are.
I am thinking I would check that first.

Yes, make sure your seals are in good shape and make sure you don't have holes in your floorboard. Personally I very rarely turn on the stereo in mine as I like to hear every little thing that is happening in my machine.

Assuming that your seals and floorboards are in good shape, consider pulling your seats, carpet, headliner, etc. and installing Noico type sound deadening panels then.

I learned in church that a holy muffler can make loud noise. check the exhaust. check the rubber door seals for goodness too as airleakage there can cause noise. make sure your aircleaner is installed.

Lots of things can make noise in the Jeep. If you just got the Jeep, check the
wheel bearings front and rear for play which can cause noise. Change the gear
oil in the differential. Check the rear driveshaft u-joints for play.
