What kind of oil would you use in a Freeze 12 system.

I picked up a couple of cans of Freeze 12 the other day off of Craigslist, and I'm kinda stumped as to what kind of oil to run with this freon.
My Cherokee is a 93, but for some reason came factory with an R-12 system. I of course being a cheap bastard, refuse to pay 30.00/can for the real stuff. I picked up 3 cans of Freeze 12 for 20 bucks, but no where on the can does it say what oil to run. I was thinking Esther oil, but the R-12 system came with mineral oil, did it not? I don't plan on flushing out the lines, due to the fact that my compressor didn't blow up- it's just leaking from the case seals. Anyone out there have any reccomendations? Thanks.

I've always used esther oil when performing R134A conversions, as the esther oil will intergrate with both mineral oil and PAG oil...I can't imagine why it wouldn't work. I'm sure you could buy mineral oil for R-12 systems, but I've never seen it on the shelf.

Read the ingredients on the side of the can to me. If I remember correctly, Freeze 12 is not a flouroclorocarbon, but butane and or propane.

It says "Contents: Trade seceret"
I think back in the day- Freeze 12 was a mix of R-12 and propane. I've heard of guys running strictly propane in their A/C systems before, but that's a little hair-brained if you ask me.

I checked the MSDS sheet at the Freeze 12 website - it appears to be a mix of about 75% R-134a and 25% HCFC-22 - not anything like R-12 as the name would have you believe. Ester or PAG oil would work, but you would NOT want to use mineral oil.
