What kind of transmission 94 Cherokee?
Considering purchasing a 1994 Cherokee 4x4 with a manual trans although the transmission needs to be replaced or at least needs a new housing as owner says it’s cracked so I want to track down a transmission for it before I go ahead and buy the jeep. Does that model come with the AX15? Can anyone confirm?

Autos are AW4's, Manuals for 4.0l were AX15 or later NV3500 or 4cyl were AX5
the AX15's were a mixture of internal or external slave clutch cyl if memory serves.

Yep 1994+ Ax15 is the external slave cylinder. Easier to service and tends to be the pick of most for swaps.
Swapped one into my auto xj a few years back. Sounds like a straight forward swap if it's Ax15 to Ax15.
IIRC there may be variations in input/output shaft length and spline count over the years.
Another thing to keep in mind/research if pulling a different year-model AX15.
