well...on quadratec theres a kit of rubicon express nitro twin tube shocks for 200$

i see lots of people love RE, but are their shocks good? and im not too concerned with a rough ride...it is a jeep after all

or on the up side....a monotube RE shock kit for $320...

The twin tube shocks from re are suppose to be a pretty rough riding. If you want a smoother ride then upgrade to the mono tubes. But honestly I wouldnt waste your money. Like you stated its a jeep, its not suppose to ride like a Cadillac. Im currently using skyjacker hydros with my re kit. It rides pretty much like it did from the factory.

i really like my RE shocks except that one broke already, but got my replacement from RE yesterday no questions asked so cant complain.
they do ride a little stiff since theyre a positive pressure shock, but are awesome offroad.

I run the RC nitro's and they are a little stiff but seem to perform well off-road and help with cornering on road. For the price I have zero complaints.

I have run all of the shocks you guys are talking about... The RE mono's are definitely nice.... The nitros-sky jacker or RC, and the RE twin tubes ride like sh** and do not perform any better off road then the skyjacker hydro's do... Save some money, and the fillings in your teeth, and get the hydro's.... You won't regret it.... Let my wasted money save you some..

Adhesion Promoter can make paint flexible enough to handle the spring movement. That what they put on plastic on cars to make the paint flexible.

Im a doetsch fan. Super smooth and not that hard on wallet

You should just clean them up nicely and install them. If you plan on wheeling at all, paint will only be a memory in the back of your mind. Now, if you're planning on hard parking it, then invest in powder coating.

so your saying get the skyjacker hydros? or get the RE monotubes? cause the difference in price isnt much of a concern to me, 320s not too bad for shocks that will last for a long time...but i didnt wanna get some crazy blistens that cost 600$ haha.

so skyjacker hydros??
or RE Monotubes??

or POSjeeps doetsch shocks??

POSjeep...what type of ones? nitro? hydro? or the prerunners? whats your favoriate?

oh and i wont be getting these shocks for about a month or so...wheels/tires come before the shocks. the guy gave me the rustys shocks that came with the lift....the shafts are kinda rusted, and they look alittle rough...but some fine grit sand paper will clean up the shafts, (and its only the very end of the shafts) and some black paint will make the shocks look nice... but i do want to get new shocks.

Look at Rusty's shocks ($33 a shock). I have them and have always used them. I am very happy with how they perform. I had one break and wrap around my axle tube(it looked like a J) and i sent it back with a copy of the orginal receipt and got a new one for free! I have been nothing by pleased. maybe put 20,000 between 3 sets of shocks (i keep lifting so they only last a few miles before i replace them lol).
