I'll now be getting 400 miles per gallon. While parked. On the highway they actually scavenge exhaust fumes from the air and turn them back into gasoline, filling my tank as I drive.

Eh. or plain old boring NGK copper cores.
Perfect description of the hype on these products. I've got old fashioned Champion Copper RC9YC but... I take them out every night and store them in a cryogenic chamber in an oxygen free atmosphere. The plugs need to be kept at an angle corresponding to the angle of the magnetic fields of force at my lattitude and longitude. This keeps all the iron particles aligned correctly. I also switched to filling my tires with Helium since it's so much lighter than air or nitrogen and my mileage improved dramatically.

running e3s they were cheap and on sale shoulda done some research but well see how they turn up. so far not to bad. alittle more throttle responce but no milage or power increase. well see how they turn out in a few thousand miles. ive heard some dumb**** happening around 3-8k miles or so. well see.

I disagree about the hype. There are some cars that do actually benefit from specialized spark plugs such as platinum or multi-tip. I would say most XJs do not really benefit from the hyped up plugs, BUT- in later model XJ distributorless ignition systems (AKA the waste-spark systems), the platinum plugs are recommended for increased longevity. I don't really want to have to change my plugs in my 01 every 15K miles- so I think they matter.

FWIW, single-platinums will die an early death in a waste spark system, operating at reverse polarity. Double platinums or iridiums seem to work well.

Psst....if you store them in an oxygen-rich environment (I recommend one of those nursing home oxygen tents cranked up to 25 atmospheres), they release that stored O2 in operation, acting as a mini-supercharger. You'll love the difference.

What about adding a fine distilled water mist? Could help tackle carbon deposits and cool the electrodes to prevent detonation

Good idea-I'll try that! I'll probably make 400 HP with that alone.

The recommended interval is not 15,000 miles, is it?

J.C. Whitney always has some interesting spark plugs.

Indeed, I would probably run fancier plugs in a newer vehicle. I figure there's little point in more durable plugs in our 4.0s as by the time 15k hits they'll be fouled from blowby and CCV fumes anyway lol

30,000 was the factory interval at least up until the coil packs came out and they did fine at that interval.
