I run Champion RC12ECC because they are cheap, they work fine.

After you take the Midol cruiser prescribed, use one of these:

Name:  butthurtcompress.png

Extended projection ended in 1999!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and postulate that the engineering specification changed based on feedback from the field. I do not believe there were any signifcant changes to the ignition system or the head's heat dissipation until 2000 model year (0331 + coil packs). But, there were millions of hours logged. Changes like this happen all the time. Over nearly 30 years of 4.0L and Jeep history, the stupid heater control valve was dropped, vacuum axle disconnect dropped, spark plug spec changed, and the oil spec changed - but barely anything else did.

Goes to show how what a great job the AMC engineers did. Nearly perfect.
