Default What is this & Where does it go?

I am almost finished putting a 97 engine in my 93 cherokee. All I have left to do is re-connect all the little stuff etc. When underneath the vehicle, this "thing" is dangling around the front of the transmission. Unfortunately I don't remember where it goes or what it does (This project has been going on for over a month). Could any of you help me figure out what it is, and most importantly where it goes? Pictures in your responses would be a huge help. Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this post and your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Default What is this & Where does it go? Part 2 of 2

I am almost finished putting a 97 engine in my 93 cherokee. All I have left to do is re-connect all the little stuff etc. When looking at the passenger side of the firewall, there is a small electrical plug that doesn't have an obvious mate. Unfortunately I don't remember where it goes or what it does (This project has been going on for over a month). Could any of you help me figure out what it is, and most importantly where it goes? Hose with tube is a vent for trans/transfer. it bolts to rear of block, but you can just attach it some place high-thats what i did----Not sure about the wire conn. It might be the conn. for under hood light.

Radio Flyer:

Thanks,
I think your right about the wired plug going to a hood bulb...

As far as the vent tube is concerned, does it need to be installed on the block with the open end pointing up or down? (or sideways).... and not to bother you too much, but what does it really do??

The plug looks like the washer fluid level sending unit on the bottom of the washer tank

The trans/transfer vent is just that, it lets air vent. I wouldn't think its orientation would make any difference at all. Just make sure it's up high enough that if you cross some water, it doesn't get sucked in.

Its like a p trap in plumbing- Mount it so that it curves over the top like an upside down u, it allows air to move in and out without water getting into it. You don't have to mount it to the engine, just make sure that wherever you bolt it or wire tie the tube, it is as high in the engine bay as possible.

Thanks for all the help... I won't get a chance to do anything till this weekend but I at least feel more confident in reassembling those odds and ends. I'm currently googling that trans/transfer vent to find pics etc.... If I don't find an exact diagram I'll just hang it somewhere like a "n" high in the engine bay.
Have a great weekend,
