Welcome to the forum!

Check out this recent thread for some good information regarding your question.

Are you looking for a jeep cherokee or jeep grand cherokee? With that budget, you can get yourself a good jeep and have plenty to modify it to your likings, if that is your intention.

Someone else can chime in on the gas question. I don't really pay attention to how much gas i use because i never can get it filled up 100%. I don't feel like spending $70 doing so.

If it is an urban use the 4 cylinder version gets the best mileage but a rural use or multi use may require the 4.0L engine. Some UK users have a diesel option and that may also help extend the mileage if you are located in Europe.

thanks for that. i do quite a bit of 4x4 driving and country driving and boat towing so ill be going the 4L. my main concern in reliabity as i have been reading that the 2000 2001 cherokee modles have had problems and that the radiotors on the cherokree's aren't the best, and on the gas the engine would run hotter. but yer reliabilty is may main concideration

Radiators are not a concern if properly maintained. 2000 & 2001 are coil pack non distributor ignitions and those can be very costly to replace should they present a problem.
There are many trucks here that use the cheaper LPG from Mexico and they seem to run fine. With both tanks full you can extend your range w/o a fill up.

Fuel tanks in the cargo area and I have seen one on the roof rack. Can't even speculate on the mileage that can be obtained from LPG but have heard it is less than with gasoline. LPG is somewhat cheaper per liter though so that may factor into the final cost.

None on Cherokees that is where the gas tank is now. The roof would work unless you have height restrictions like a low garage door or a low parking garage.

my 2 most recent trucks had 3.55:1 Gears in the axles and are not too too poor in town, but on highway are exceptionally better than my prior mode of transport than my jeeps... (1985 Merkur XR4Ti... A German Ford with a huge turbo and an appetite for fuel. ) I can squeeze approxamitely 800L for a tank in my most recent Jeep truck. 100L Tank.

Jason they all came with gas tanks from the factory.(strange question) and they were never originally made to use either CNG or LPG so you are "converting" to that fuel. If you leave the gas tank in place you can then use either fuel in it gasoline or LP gas. Just requires the flip of a switch.
