What's bushing is this?
Hey everyone,
I took two pics of it and put a red box around it for clarification. The one on my XJ is shot and needs replacement, I just don't know what bushing I need. Anyone ever replace this guy before? It looks pretty straight forward.

based on that pic, it's what attaches the pitarm to the drag link. if not a bushing, what would you call that piece of rubber that's all mangled in there?

thanks for the info. the unfortunate thing is it's also banging around when driving. I got a death wobble the other day that i'm certain is caused by this. everything else in the setup looks tight. i'm 100% stock and running stock sized tires, no lift.
i've done some googling since i actually know what these parts are called now and it's looking like i have to replace the whole drag link would you agree?

Replace the drag link, if the rest of the tie-rods are in similar shape you should replace them as well;

All you need is a set of hand tools, and rent one of the tie-rod servicing kits from the parts store. Should take 2-3 hours tops to change it out.

am i correct that new boots aren't included with a new drag link? looks like moog is the way to go brand wise based on what i've read.

thanks for the link. i think the other tie rods are in good shape but i'll give everything a closer look tomorrow weather permitting. i've never had to do tie rod ends so this should be interesting... i see some people use a pickle fork while some have pullers. any recommendations on actually getting this thing apart the easiest way?

And yes, the tie rod end on that side you can purchase separately.
You are sure the other tie-rod ends are in good shape? If one of them snaps you will loose steering so don't cheap out on $140 worth of parts. As long as they aren't original with lots of miles, and there isn't any play in the steering, replace just the pitman-arm tie-rod and you should be good. Seriously like 30 mins worth of work I would assume.
Use a proper puller tool, it makes the job a lot easier.
