Default Whats causing this?

Everytime I go to get gas, no matter how empty my tank is the pump clicks off at least 30 times, yesterday I was running on E, my gas light was on, and it clicked off at $2.00, what causes this? I wanna fix this! My last cherokee didnt have this problem, any help is much appreciated! Thanks

Try not putting the nozzle in all the way. Just back it out some and that should help.

I hold the lever on the nozzle to make sure the gas station doesn't screw me. Try what the guy said before me and see if that works.

There's a charcoal canister that sucks up gas vapors when filling up and on hot days. It converts the vapors back to gasoline. If you have over filled your gas tank ("topped off") it can flood your evaporative canister causing it to lock the gas pump when you fill up. You can temporarily work around this by wiggling the pump head around and slowing the flow of gas.

Wheres that at? And how do I fix it? Im in Oregon so Im not allowed to pump my own gas, gotta fix this

No Kidding!
I went to Portland and pulled into a gas station and the guy there almost had a heart attack because I was going to put in my own gas. I have no idea why you can pump your own gas. Very Strange!

Above the rear axle there's a box. Drivers side.

Here's the part I believe. I've never done this on an XJ my experience is from an Audi A4 so YMMV.
