Yeah its a combination of leaky cap and bottle threads causing it to not hold enough pressure. The aftermarket plastic coolant bottles just aren't built with the same thickness that the OEM ones are. For the price of an OEM one the aluminum one makes more sense to never have to worry about it again.

kinda on the same topic with overheating and trying to prevent it <...best i can relate it anyway i was going to flush my radiator out this past weekend and got under there and there was NO drain plug!?! Is it hidden (drop a panel to get to it) or do you have to disconnect the lower return hose?..

DRAIN IT ALL
If you're gonna drain it I've always found it best to drain it all .
Do it properly and drain the block too.

I'm in the process of converting and wondering where it will fit ? (i have the overflow bottle)
I thought about just running the hose open.
i see in the article where it is, but dosent seem to fit for me

After you remove the old pressure bottle and the plate that it sits on you should be able to mount a bottle into the same location.
