Whoa big red flag. Dealers legally have to disclose when they know that something major like having an engine rebuilt has been done on the car. That means the engine broke and it was rebuilt. Not that it is a bad car, but a rebuilt engine is not a selling feature-it is a huge negative that you could at least leverage to get them to lower their price by much more than they are asking. Personally, I wouldn't trust an engine rebuilt unless they had a warranty and receipts from it being rebuilt from an actual dealer. But yea its your call and if you can lower the price enough it might be worth it.

Is that a different steering wheel? And since he said the engine was rebuilt I wouldnt pay a penny over 5K. It looks really nice in all but if your wanting to buy an xj to dd and off road with then your better off finding another one because thats just too clean of a paintjob to mess up.

I have a 98 exactly like this but more of a forrest green. mine has 150k miles and my interior is almost as clean as that with little staining. i paid 2800 but this one is much cleaner. id say 3500-4000,judging that its mechanically sound. any more than 4k and you should look for a newer xj for a little bit more.in phoenix you can get a locked and lifted xj on 35s for about 5500 so just wait for a good deal! happy xj hunting!

First off everyone is right, something happened that caused them to rebuild the motor. That is like a huge red flag.
Second, The XJ is a bottom trim package with stock steelies
third, mine is about the same condition as that one, even had the engine rebuilt at 100K. Absolute tops I could get for mine, if I found someone who really wanted that one, is $4,500.
I would walk away and buy from a private owner or a dealer that isn't trying to make their yearly income off one vehicle.
