what's wrong with this....
I have a 2000 Cherokee, and the other day while driving about 45 it felt like it missed or jumped. the next day it did it again while going through a parking lot. Today it just died when coming to a stop at a stop sign. put it in park, started right back up.
at first I thought the miss or jump was the tps bc I thought it was trying to shift. any ideas?

When it died did it give any kind of warning such as it missing or anything or did it just die like you turn the key off? If it died like you shut off the key go to Cruiser's link, post 7 and it will tell you how tho check your CPS.

^ trying to avoid that very situation. I just read a few other posts about the Automatic shutdown relay. anyone ever have this be the cause of such issues?
The problem is that i think 2000 was the first year to have distributorless ignition with the coil packs, and 2001 was the last of the "real" cherokees. (the 2014's are not cherokees) . i can't find many posts that have this issue that don't mention the distributor, rotor or wires.

Ok I have the same issue. Mine will like it seems to like a choke. It will lose power and come back. nd now it will shut off. Heat still blows but no engine running. And if I stop it will come back on without me touching the ignition or anything. I've almost crashed twice and the shops don't even know what is wrong. It tends to happy more after I get gas. If you noticed that too? I'm scared for mine. And my

CPS is a crank position sensor. It is sometimes otherwise referred to as CKS or CAS. Basically it tells the ECU the position of the crank. If the ECU is not getting a signal from the CPS while the ignition is on, it will shut off fuel transfer and spark as part of a safety measure.
It's easy to change, a couple bolts.
