Whats your OHMs?
Hey guys,
Last night the Money Pit was running, shut it off and it refuses to restart, I did get it to restart for about 10 minutes but once I turned it off it refuses to start again. (Turns over fine etc etc)
The Renix manual says the CPS should be 200 Ohms +/-75, mine is reading 258ohms. So its within tolerances according to the Renix manual.
I looked in the Chilton book and it says 5 ohms.
So what is it?
It sure acts like the CPS has died but not sure.
Anyone care to check the resistance on your Renix 4.0 that is running right please.

Yep, I've checked spark, fuel, even pulled the filter just in case, checked the Crank Sensor, I even changed the fuel rail and injectors with an extra old set I got, I rechecked that the correct wire was on the on correct injector, MAP sensor, MAT sensor, Water Temp sensor, all checked ok.
I haven;t checked the cam position sensor (need to get new multitestor probes first) cleaned and checks all the grounds, Firewall-Headbolt stud, battery to block, and one more from battery to fender.
I've pulled all the plugs and cleaned them and they was burning clean.
I wil say the spark wasn't exactly bright blue like I expected but was jumping a 1/4" gap without issue.
All the relays are good. The only sensor unhooked at the moment is the knock sensor. It is bad already and I was supposed to pick it up today but didn;t come in.
When I did get it started today, idle was fair, not perfect, took it for a ride down the road and there was a miss and felt weak like it was starving for gas and running rough.
This is getting old real fast.

Just got the Money Pit started again.
It was a bad coil. I pulled the one off the parts XJ for the safe of argument.
Well it fired right up.
Now I've got a miss, I'll figure that out but at least it runs again.

Whoopee The miss is gone.
For the sake of argument and because I found a set of new plug wires I didn;t know I had, I changed the wires.
The old Renix runs like a new critter. But as with any engine that sits to long its got a few oil leaks to content with, the worse of which is the rear main.
But the main thing was diagnosing the miss and making sure every thing else was 100%.
to be continued....
