Default Wheel bearing replacement help

I believe my wheel bearing has busted, there is a lot of play moving the wheel side to side and I pulled this broken ring out. It's an 89 XJ.

I've never done this before but I'm pretty sure that's the problem... there's a picture of the busted ring does that look like a bearing piece?

I understand I'll need a 36mm axle socket and breaker bar. I have a stripped wheel stud on the other side so I was thinking about just replacing both hubs since parts at FN jeep are so cheap.

Could anyone give me pointers on how to best accomplish this? Would it be relatively easy to replace the hubs or better to just replace the bearing?

Thank you

Without a press you can't replace just the bearing. It's alot easier to replace the hub assembly it self.
Loosen the lugs and jack the vehicle up on stands.
Remove the wheels.
You'll need another bar to act as a brace against the ground through the studs in order to remove the axle nut (36mm).
Remove the brake caliper (10mm)
Remove the 3 hub bolts (on the back side, you'll need a 12 point 13mm).
Remove the hub.

Sounds good thanks for the help, would something like a piece of rebar work to brace against the ground?

Lots of good threads on CF regarding this issue. Read them all BEFORE you start.

Make sure you have the replacement parts on hand, you can always return unused parts. Anti-seize on everything that moves.

As long as it's thick enough to keep from bending yes. You have to torque the axle nut to 175ft/lbs when you put it back on
