Wheel Hub Torque ??
I've been gathering parts to replace my wheel hubs on my 99 XJ. I know the torque spec is 175 ft. pounds for the axle nut. The only glitch at this point is that my torque wrench only goes up to 150 pounds. Other than finding another t. wrench, is there a way I can get by with what I have?
Normally I wouldn't hesitate to find the correct tool, but now time is critical and I need to swap the hubs out ASAP. I need to take my wife to a cancer treatment facility in Philly which is about 250 miles away.......

once you get to 150 do about another 1/4 turn or so and you should be really close to 175. then when you can get the right tool check it then. which should be as soon as you possibly can

well now this is not something that you can just guess at if you over torque under torque it will ruin the bearings alot faster alot of people will say your fine but thats what i thought to and i went thru them in about 3000 miles its 500 miles round trip is to far on a guessed torque personally you can go to the autoparts store and rent one or buy a cheap one or go to a shop and ask a mechanic to do it for you.

I didn't feel comfortable with a "guesstimate" torque setting so I sprung for a torque wrench that goes up to 250#'s at Advanced. I'm not happy about buying a precision tool from Advanced, but this was the lesser of the 2 evils.
Thanks for everyone's advice. Hubs are on and as luck would have it, one of the new pads is defective, so I'll return them and they said they'll upgrade me to the ceramic pads at no charge.
