Oh, I get what you're saying - the top, not the inside. Yeah, it's the side to side, not overall diameter that's the problem...

The wheels that are on there right now are some black steel 17 x 9's. The ones I want to put on there are those stock type metal 5 spokes. I have my spacers but haven't had the time to try and put those stock wheels on with the spacers. The photos of the back side of the wheels with the little rub marks should be the same wheel. I don't think it was touching on the right rear, just the left rear caliper, but I will be trying some spacers on both rears.

Okay, Wheel spacers will work. Also you may have enough to grind the caliper, can't realy tell from the pic.

Default And the verdict is..

Wheel spacers won't work. I popped some 7/16" on there - obviously not enough stud. Then diagnosing the real problem, it's not the calipers rubbing on the inside exactly, more like the top of the calipers rubbing on the inset portion on the back face of the wheel. It's not by very much either. I could get them to bolt on just fine, and turn OK. If it was another 1/4" off the top profile of the caliper, I could be OK. Or maybe some different wheels that don't have that dip back down in diameter on the backside.

Yeah, that's likely what I'll end up doing. At the time I bought the tires and wheels though, I didn't realize my axle was off a Grand Cherokee. I've only had the rig a week now. Still kind of slow, I crawled underneath and thought, "Good, I've got a Dana 44 in back somehow."

You have to realize people aint always got the money to run out and buy new things. They have to get bye with what they can till a deal arrives.

so you have an aluminum D44? I just want to know what kind of tire shop would bolt up wheels on a truck and not make sure that they fit.

Actually, no - that's a good point. It's not aluminum...therefore it could? be off something else. As far as the tire shop, it was the kind of tire shop that's the only one open on a Sunday and didn't "Habla" too well....And the did get the wheels all the way on, I can say from doing it myself it isn't a struggle and you don't know it won't work until the wheel starts to rotate and you can hear the big scraping sound.
