wheel spacing question
whats a safe wheel spacer size? i have 285 tires on cragar soft 8s and they rub the LCAs a bit. i have a friend that refers to them as "death rings"

I dont trust them. Everyone that I know that runs them has had issues with them breaking. And for the price they charge for them, you can buy a cheap set of steel rims with the correct backspacing

I like wheel spacers. They make money for me. I get to put 4x4 rigs on my tow truck after a wheel falls off. And charge extra for the additional work.

Spacer Problems?
I don't have any problems with my 1.25 Spidertracks wheel spacers. I like em. They resolve my wheel rub to lower control arm. They widen my track for stability. They work for me. No problems. I use them correctly. There is no physical or geometrical advantage or disadvantage of the spacer vs changing my backspacing. I did not consider the $145 for the set expensive and I couldn't buy rims for that price. If you can't use em right, then you shouldn't.

Your backspace
If you have a good wheel position with your 1.5 Spiders on, then you can determine how much change you would like in your backspace. Pull your tire, lay a straight edge across the back of your rim. Measure down to the rear mounting face of your hub. The depth of the rim center hub mount face up the the level of the rear outer edge of your rim is your backspace.
Think about how your spidertracks are reducing this distance by 1.5 inch.
You would have to find a rim with that value of backspace to obtain the same wheel position without the spacer. Just sayin, I have 4 sets of Jeep rims so I back space to resolve the fit issues I have induced with conflicts and compromises of modifications. The spider tracs work for me, I torque in two stages at 95/100 ft lb torque of the spacers onto the stock studs, then 95/100 ft lb torque rims onto the spacer studs. I drive a lot in the jeep, a lot. I check the torque monthly, sometimes I have found one or two nuts that tighten up a little. What is it that you don't like about your 1.5 spidertracks?

Thanks guys...ill try that...the thing i dont like about them is no matter how tight, no matter how much lock tight, or whatever, on my aluminum rims they will not stay tight and about 4 or 5 times, they have been so close to falling off on the road haha. Ive had them put on professionally just to see if i was being an idiot and they did the same thing...i have all new lug bolts and none of my bolts are stripped...well now they are, which brings another question...can you buy extra nuts for the spacers?? Nothing i have found fits in there at all
Thanks again
Thanks again
