Default had this problem too

I had a camber issue like this ( After plowing over a boulder ) and could not find the problem by prying on the tire. I lifted the frame and got the axle off the ground. I had to pry between the knuckle and the "C" before i noticed any slight give at upper ball joint. after popping off the knuckle, I found the lower ball joint was bent. The hub bearings appear to be hosed as well. I purchased the 9 piece 4x4 ball joint tool from harbor freight for about $60 and it worked quite well. Here is the tool link...If you have to go that route...

Default Jarrett is right!

I tried the pry bar method and was shocked at how bad my ball joints were. I had my tires re-balanced because of the shimmy, but the ball joints were the issue the whole time. I'm reserching to see just how tough the job is to replace them.

Default I know this is an old thread but here’s hoping for help

My jeep still tracks straight and I haven't noticed any odd tire wear. Any suggestions as id like to get it straightened up if possible.

If you've replaced the ball joints and unit bearings, its possible your axle is bent. An alignment will tell you.

Very likely ball joints. As was said, get the good ball joint press, or not.. When I did mine I needed a 4foot long breaker bar. Got the ball joints pressed out and bent the ball joint press tool in the process. But princess auto (the Canadian equivalent of harbor freight) let me return it.

so funny thing is my passenger tire has excessive ware on the outer tread an the middle an inner tread is in decent shape so I swapped it with my spare that has the same tire on it as the rest of my Jeep but it’s not as tilted anymore an my theory is the tire was just deformed from previous miss alignment use I’m also gonna change my control arms an axle bearings soon and I tested if the wheel had movement jacked up and none at all an no clicking or clanking noises an I’ve previously driven it to a shop they told me I just needed to replace trac bar and sway bars so hopefully this fixes it I love my Jeep to much to get rid of it parts are cheap and it’s semi easy to repair thanks for the help though
