99 xj w/stock wheels and tires 235 75 r15. Had it on a lift for inspection and the rear sway bar is cutting a nasty groove on the inside side wall. How do i figure out the off-set, even more so im wanting 31's x 10.5

Here's an easy fix just remove the rear sway bar and connects completely. There problem solved no matter what tire you run. You don't need that thing at all.

i have a 97 XJ, if i remove the rear sway bar it wont affect anything at all? it doesn't really seem too sturdy anyways....

I’m looking at buying 31x10.5-15 tires. I do about 80%20% hardball to dirt. Any suggestions

i'd start out like that. it's going to help you on slick road surfaces. and depending on if you are going to do any wheeling in it.

the Dana axles will. your best bet is actually looking at the differential housing. both the Chrysler 8.25 and the Dana 35 will have an oval shaped housing, but on the 8.25, there will be a small lip that sticks out the bottom of the housing. the Dana 35 will not have that lip.

check this link out, it has pics to help guide you as well: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...and_Ratios.htm
