Where to buy a proper T60 bit for oil filter adapter removal?
Hi guys, I have been struggling with this ****ing oil filter adapter for the better part of a day now but have not been able to get the f-ing bit to seat on the torx bolt.
Where the hell can I get a proper T60 bit that is low profile? I bought the set form Harbor Freight, and tried to press out the bit by beating on it for about an hour without it budging the slightest. I even bent the bolt I was using to try and press it out and I am afraid of breaking my vice. PB Blaster + getting it glowing red hot didnt help either.
I am really just sick of how difficult this heep of ***** is to work on, and want to just buy the proper tool to get the job done. Or take the bit to a machine shop and pay some exorbitant amount of money to have the bit pressed out for me, which isnt going to work because no machine shop on the planet is open on the weekend.
Any ideas? Went to home depot, lowes, and ace hardware but they absolutely did not have anything I could use. Only up to a T40 which does not help. Was hoping to get this done while it was above freezing this weekend but at this point I doubt its going to happen.
EDIT:
I also absolutely refuse to remove the motor mount to do something this f-ing simple.

Where the **** do I get one of these?
Searched high and low, and I think the only place to get one is from ebay (shipped from the UK).
If that is true, I am going to try and cut the ****ing bit off with my dremel tomorrow.

Sears has a set of 4 that has the T60. Also check Harbor Freight.
Get a ratchet wrench while you're at it that fit's the torx.
Then find a breaker bar that fits on that.
Then prepare to bust a nut trying to get it lose..

If I cant get the bit removed, I am going to just return the set to harbor freight and buy the snap-on bit. That is exactly what I want anyway.
Im not even worried about how tight it is, I have a 2' section of pipe as a cheater bar and I was going to heat it with a torch anyway. I just need to be actually able to turn the bolt.
No clue why everything has to be so poorly designed. Engineers are far and away the most daft people I have ever encountered, and the Jeep engineers deserve some sort of special medal for their supreme mediocrity.

I took a hammer and punch to my t60 socket. knocked out the end and used a 12 mm wrench I believe to turn it once it was on the bolt. I used a cheater pipe as well. I did this job a second time (after not buying the specific oring for the adapter) and it might've taken 15 minutes at most.

When I bought mine I scoured the net and the only correct one was this Snap On.
http://store.snapon.com/TORX-174-Sta...0-P651663.aspx
It has a little nipple thing on the end to keep the wrench from slipping off, would have been hell without that little thing.
ONLY use a SIX point closed end wrench, 12 point will round the Torx bit off like this.
Work it in conjunction with a ratchet wrench if you have one, if you don't, you can still get er done without it.
